yeah - I smiled. We have a baby whale in the waters of Sydney and the poor little blighter has been abandoned by his mother. He's going to eventually starve to death if he's not adopted by a passing pod (would take the Navy to tug hime to open seas). The other option is to have him put euthenased (sp?). Poor little thing. Little, well, actually he weighs a ton.

Oh the poor whale, what a shame. The trouble is sometimes the mothers do abandon their babies, and then it is difficult to look after them, especially a 1 ton whale. I know some smaller animals like monkeys have to be hand reared, but it is the only way to keep them alive.

Nature is far more rutheless when applying the principles of survival of the fitest than the human species-which would rather leave the old and crippled in a nursing home in agony--rather than putting them out of their misery. Now THAT's another entirely polarising debate if ever there was one!

Indeed - my mother died a hideous cancer related death five years ago ... morphine was helpful in the last week of her illness.

I am sorry to hear that, my husband has cancer at the moment, and he has pain killers with morphine in them. He says they make him feel as if he is floating around the room.

We are hopeful the chemotherapy will work.
