Tags and tag Clouds

What are they? What use are they? Who uses them and why?

To me it just seems like more electronic clutter, do we really need them?

It is the way of the future. It may not be long before hard drives as we know them are obsolete. I have been told that online storage is the way things are going and we will all be using it soon. At the moment I do not need it so I have not investigated it. Its not so long ago that I was saying the same thing about Skype.

They are saying cloud technology is the way of the future, I would like to have the choice to use it or not. I object to being told you will have to use it.
