Hi,

This is my first post here. I found this forum while searching for new soundtrack-style music to listen to. I'm a huge fan of this kind of music, and in fact, I actually produce this kind of music.

Although my work isn't technically "Film Music," that's probably how most people would categorize it. As such, I thought I would share my stuff with you guys in the hopes that you might enjoy it. Very enjoyable music reminds of a cross-over style much like "Yanni" and to have never studied music is really something and in HIgh School... GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND. Nice music, man! Glad to see that I'm not alone .. I too, am a self-taught crossover music composer... Although, I have just one song recorded, plenty on the sheets, waiting..

Mariokbee, it's nice to meet a fellow self-taught composer. If you have that one song online somewhere, I'd be very interested in listening to it.

I've actually been having a pretty hard time classifying my music. Would you guys say it is more "crossover" or more "cinematic"?

I, too, have problems classifying my music.. but when I think about it.. let the others do that... I don't know how to label music, for me it's just that.. music.

Wow. I really liked that song you composed! I think it's much better written than most of my stuff. Is it recorded with live instruments or do you use samples?

As for classification, I wish that calling my music just "music" would suffice. But being able to define your own sound is very important when trying to attract new listeners.

You're are right about the classification thing.. I like to think myself as crossover music composer. I may be wrong

I use VSTi-s mostly. I have limited conditions in using live instruments. What about you?

I have listened to both of your compositions. I would say "crossover" as I sense a classical pattern now and then with a more modern rthymic/chordal approaches. Keep up the good work both of you.

I also use VSTi's.... I wish I could somehow find an orchestra to play my stuff... haha, but that's not going to happen .

Hmm... thanks for the tip about genre... I haven't really explored this "crossover" genre much. To be honest, I wasn't even aware that such a genre existed until now.

DO not be so sure "you can not find an orchestra to play your stuff". I would suggest that you put a few of your songs on "youtube" as alot of people explore music on that site.( might land a contact )

Lots of people listen to the videos on youtube, also on other networks such as myspace, facebook, twitter.. etc... There is a good chance that someone important will stumble upon your music. Only thing you need to do is write good music continuosly. Something will show up..

Thanks for the tips and the optimism! I have already added my music to facebook, myspace, and other places, but I have not yet gotten around to making a youtube page.

With the help of a friend, I'm planning to actually make some music videos for some of my songs. That way people will actually have something to watch while they listen .

Hopefully you guys are right, and that one day I will be able to have my music recorded with live instruments. Until then, I will continue to work hard on newer and better music!
