Actually no, its the same as the keys, just used with buttons. They are called diatonic accordions.

Its a rather simple and ingenious design!
It runs of reeds, metal onse to be specific, and for the ammount of keys on the board, there will be a corresponding reed. Later today I will pull apart my small 12 button accordion and show you just what it does!
I bought my accordion off ebay for $35.00 USD, and did a minor repair job to it, knowing nothing about accordions at the time, and now it runs perfectly! One of the reeds had popped loose, so I glued it back into place, and now the air pressure is strong, and I get great sound, although the A bass button isnt perfect, it still gives me the desired effect.
No, I am not an professional accordion player, but I do enjoy learning with my little box...I am learning to play it properly, but then again I am a bit of a folk musician of sorts.
