Room 101

Room 101 comes from George Orwell's novel "Nineteen Eighty Four".

It was a place of nightmares where people were sent as punishment, to face their worst fears. George Orwell named it after a room at The BBC, where he had to go for tedious meetings.

The BBC have a programme where famous people talk about their most hated things and banish them into a large container in Room 101.

So this is my Room 101, feel free to enter and let us know which things you most hate.

I will start with sky scrapers, I think they are absolutely awful, a blot on the landscape. Where I live in the city centre they have built them, with posh apartments in. They seem to be mostly glass, ugh.

These days I try to avoid saying that I "hate" something, but despise and loathe I can - let's see now - this list is far from complete: Trabant(car), those who drive under the speed limit in the passing(left)lane - (Btw, In Germany I've seen the police write a ticket for those who drive slower than the speed limit in the left lane), Pederasts, Drug Dealers/Abusers and Arsonists.

Well, Margaret, the things in Germany are a bit different - you can find the sky scrapers only in Frankfurt here , people live normally in the smaller houses and cottages " on the land " ( like we do ) . Many would say , the sky scrapers are somehow "cool" as a sign of something metropolitan...Our house has three floors, and I think I miss this height and a feeling of the sky around me sometimes. Though, I guess , one can really enjoy living in a sky scraper only if he owns a penthouse....

Now for the things I personally cannot accept ( I would not say "hate", same as Corno Dolce ) - everything which can be described as a waste of time - first and foremost soaps and computer games.

Well yes, you don't have to hate things, just things you are not very fond of.

I don't expect people to hate.

I don't say hate either. What I don't like is rudeness in people.

I dislike people who barge into the front of a queue, for example at a bus stop or waiting to get on the train. Manners are good, sadly, most people lack them.
