From an e-mail....

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.

We should've known…... We SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!

ONLY
women would be able to drag a fat-ass man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

Merry Christmas!!!

Hello Margaret (and All),

Yes it is nice to visit again! It has been a while....
It's so so easy to get involved in these forums consequently not tending to other responsibilities which is what was happening with me.
I am going try to regulate my time visiting the several music and dog forums so expect to see me more often ~again :)

Hi again, Hawk. How've you been? How's the oboe practise going?

Hi Mat,

Well the oboe has been neglected for a while now. After playing a good one and realizing mine needed "major" overhauling I've stopped for now. I've learned a little more about baroque oboe and I think it would be great to get my hands on one~literally and figuratively. I am left handed and from what I've read I could play a baroque oboe with the left hand in the dominate position.
I am also learning transverse flute. I have aquired an old (ca 1832) Firth Hall and Pond flute. It has four keys and is made from rosewood and ivory. It's in great shape~would love to find a teacher/mentor. I also have a baroque flute (same maker) on the way.
How are you??

Good to hear you've picked up some new instruments. I can already imagine all the fun you're about to have playing them. Hope you'll soon be able to lay your hands on a top, or at least, decent-shelf oboe. I know exactly how it feels to play an expensive instrument with golden keys and what not, the way each sound is so easy to produce, without the slightest effeort. But just then my friend took his instrument away from me and I had to go back to reality...

I'm doing fine, though I do miss playing the beast.

Anyway, I wish you a wonderful time exploring new instruments and new sounds. I know how rewarding it is.

Cheers
