This is an update to a previous thread, in which I (as a composer) was given a great deal of help by forum members in my search for a suitable organ to record a piece with orchestra.
In the end, the work (Gwylmabsant) was recorded in Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff, with soloist Jane Watts playing the hall's electronic organ with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Anybody who wishes to hear the result can hear it as a track on the double CD "Welsh Incident" - more information here: http://www.sainwales.com/en/store/sain/sain-scd-2653
- the site offers short audio extracts of the various tracks, but the clip of Gwylmabsant contains more orchestral intro than organ!- however, single tracks can be downloaded from the same source.
I have to say that I still miss the sound of a true pipe organ in this piece, as in previous public performances of it.
