Passion Play

Yesterday late afternoon I got a call from the organizer of a unique passion play that will take place in Apostelkirken, Copenhagen, Friday, April 2nd at 15:00 (3 PM).

It's a very large "event" that involves the audience in many ways. There will be almost two hours of organ music, but unfortunately yesterday the organist called in with high fever. He had to cancel!

So I will be jumping in, with two days advance, and play the program

Some of the music will be improvised, but everything has to work together with what happens in the church (there is a 19 pages script), so it's going to be very exciting and challenging. Luckily I like challenges

I know it will be mentioned in TV in the morning, but I don't know whether there will be a video/audio recording of the passion play itself or not. I will post here if there is.

Sure sounds like fun but a Hell of alot of work for last minute request. I will; say prayers for you to receive any additional help you may need from above. I know your playing will affect many many people gathered their to honor the passion. Sure wish I could be there. Congrats to our fearless leader Sir Frederik Magle. Methinks that he will really garner alot of interest for his art and craft - moreso than before. It will be as a springboard for him, catapulting him towards more fascinating ventures in composing and performance. Sir Frederik, the world will soon become your oyster.

Bill, yes, it's a lot of work, but hopefully the attendees will indeed get the right experience from the music.

Thanks Lars and Panos, I hope too there will be a recording, but I don't know yet. I do have the equipment, but it's impossible for me to both record and play - I need to be able to focus 100% on the playing.

The Passion Play went very well, everything "clicked" and I got some fantastic feedback from many of the congregation/audience/participants. The play was recorded with a video camera, but I have no idea how good the recording was. Still, there's a chance some of it could be uploaded to YouTube (I'll update this thread if that happens).
