Hi All

What are some classical works you would desribe as similar to the Passion of the Christ score? (in other words, who do you think influenced John Debney when he wrote this music?)

First off, Welcome aboard the Starship MIMF where everyome is a star. Please do make yourself feel right at home.

Now, on to your question: Who might have influenced John Debney when he wrote the score to the *Passion of the Christ*? Wow, that's a tough nut to crack, Imho. One probably has to ask the composer about who influenced him - I'll take a stab: Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, and Maurice Jarre.

But Mr. Debney could be trying for originality. His incorporation of Asian instruments into the score can give an exotic, mystical, ethnic-folk tinge to the music so that the movie-goer can better relate to the timeframe the film recreates.

This is as far as I will go with your question. I'm sure that a few of the many super-talented members of this forum can fill in more creatively than I can in this field.
