Hi all,

Just to let you know of a real treat this week. It started today with the priliminary rounds of the National Danish Radio Program 2 Chambermusic Challenge/Competition for young highly skilled (classical) musicians.

I was in there today to hear the woodwind quintet Carion where an old friend of mine plays (the horn) - and it was a blast!!! - skillful mastery of their instruments... I think they'll have a good chance of getting to the final (haven't heard any of the other ensembles yet though).
There's also an audience-competition - which everyone can enter by making a guess on which three ensembles will be nos. 1 through 3. - So there's something in it for everyone. ;-)

I like these events too.Pity I am so far away. Not a lot like this,or on this scale are held in Australia. There is one Festival in Melbourne. Victoria for the Young and High Skilled and it is a week of wonderful music. The Esteidfords
of Music in Most Capital Cities and Country areas are the closest thing to this, and also have audience participation.
So I hope you will enjoy it all Thomas. I have found the Radio Station on my PC and perhaps they will play some. But my Danish is limited....Did Read about The Quintet "Carion" & hope they do make the Final. Cheers

they [Carion] made it to the final round... and they won second prize, which is not that bad... though I think winning would be somewhat more pleasant

the winners are a quite young group of string players... - "The Young Danish Stringquartet"... I haven't heard them - besides a few short notes here and there... but as for the seemingly conservative jury of this competition, it wasn't a complete surprise... - we have to go back over 10 years to see something other than string trios or quartets who won the competition... so... but it's over now for this time, and I for one would like to congratulate the winners and participants of the competition... it really does take some skill and talent to go so far as these "guys" have...
