Outdoor event photography in comfort

Mainly for those of us who are less agile nowadays (read old)

I go to a few events like air shows, folk festivals but toting a load of camera gear, and having to stand much of the time tends to discourage ones attendance, so this is how I now go about it

I presume the idea could be adapted to other pursuits, maybe show jumping or some sports where you will be in the same position for the duration of the event. If there is going to be quite a bit of quick movement over a distance e.g. air shows, track racing, field sports/games etc then a monopod will be better than a tripod. It all fits in the car, and probably on a bus as well, some baby buggies are bigger!

The rollator (walking aid with seat) is also handy for shopping - not so much at supermarkets (they already have trolleys) but along the high street or mall.

Yes. I like these types and is on my list when I need it. My mother used one for years. I do have a cane that has a collapsible canvas seat attacted which I use on occasion- for the present time. I use mainly for long hikes with the dogs so I can sit when I need to rest..

I'm not yet there, but probably in another 6 years or so. It is becoming increasingly difficult to walk any distance - 25% of that difficulty is because I am rather portly (as Mike can attest to) and the other 75% because of the diabetes, and how various medications affect body joints and muscles.

I'm certainly glad you properly identified the Coleman cooler ... my first reaction was that it was a ... well ... erm ... you know ... uhh ... :crazy:.

About 12 years ago I started getting joint problems, particularly elbows, I started taking

http://www.naturesaid.co.uk/health_..._500mg_chondroitin_100mg_with_vit_c/index.asp

Not had any problems since except once when we went on 2 weeks holiday and I forgot to pack them, the elbow started to play up after a week or so, back home and taking the tablets all was fine after a few days.

My "getting around" problem is mainly due to chest and breathing, - aftermath of 40 years smoking (stopped 11 years ago).

No Lars, those are normally made of china, round with a handle (AKA a gozundah)

I wouldn't let pride come before convenience and comfort;

well my legs are but my pride won't let me
as they say "pride comes before a fall" which could happen if your legs give up!
