I saw the Russian tenor, Nikolai Baskov's live concert on PBS last week and was so excited to see that he announced a US tour to a handful of major cities!

Thanks for the link// I even ordered the DVD of his concert in Moskow with Cabelle from Amazon for only 15.98 with shipping (a real good price ) He is to far away for me to go see him.. 10 hour drive...

can leave his homeland, coming to the ocean, risking his life to cross the ocean,
enduring travel throughout the disUnited States,
and you're saying a presumably safe and American throughway enhanced road trip,
what, ten hours, isn't worth the effort.

Yup John.. that is true: but it is financially out of the question for me these days.. and would have to fly. such is old age retirement. The DVD is good.. so I have that.

Yeah, I was just riffing off. It would be a long way to go and expect to enjoy such an event, properly.
It's interesting what being in the presence of great talent can be like, just being in the same room.
Please, don't hesitate to write concert producers to describe your dilemma.
You might be able to get half price or two-for-one tickets, travelling that far,
if it's not sold out.
So I'm going to send a blatski-blatski, in my general direction.

The best time for me, getting ambitious about jazz, was seeing McCoy Tyner.
After the first set he went over to the end of the bar and got some orange juice out for himself,
and this whole roomful of mostly pianists just watched, so I went over.
We talked for over twenty minutes, one of the best times of my life.
