I am trying to write a novel, and have been experimenting to find the best music to write to. Normally hate "background" music, but I've found that Bach's preludes and fugues, for instance, seem to set my brain up to be creative!
I'm not an author, but when working on the internet, I enjoy some Mozart playing quietly - any of the "lighter" classical compositions, nothing to heavy that requires deep concentration.
I'll also put on some streaming audio from Rhapsody or other online radio stations.
I would imagine thats really a matter of personal choice, but I guess there are some objective factors. What worked well for me was Beethoven, and actually opera music... But I would imagine a lot of classical composers would work great as a background music.
