Missa Salisburgensis by Heinrich Biber...

What glorious music Biber wrote for the 1100 anniversary celebration of Salzburg as a center of Christianity. A Mass in 53 parts - such an embarassment of riches!!!

I wonder if anyone on this forum has been involved with it as a singer or instrumentalist.

What opinion do you have about "Missa Christi Resurgentis"? I find it absolutely beautifull, with its massive structure...

Hi Theodor,

Welcome aboard the good ship MIMF - Know that you are amongst friends, lovers and practitioners of music and other artful subjects.

Missa Christi Resurgentis was the first Biber Mass in which I was one of the three solo basses.

It is a glorious work which, like the Missa Salisburgensis, I never tire of hearing.

Cheers,

Giovanni

I just bought the Manze recording of Christi Resurgentis. Remarkable work and recording! Still, nothing can top the Salzburg Mass. I would love to hear that in the Salzburg Cathedral. When I visited the Cathedral I had Segarra's recording of the Salzburg Mass playing in my headphones. I guess I had it up too loud because people looked at me like I had ten heads!

Hi ajw27,

The Missa Salisburgensis is a work that defies convention. It is such an adrenaline shot that makes the performers and listeners sit up and take notice of things that are not of this world.
