I am looking for a simple piece in binary form where the first part is relatively slow & soft while the second is relatively fast & loud. However, the piece cannot be difficult. I need to arrange it for an ensemble with some soft instruments (3 flutes & 3 violins) & some loud ones (3 trumpets, baritone & tenor sax). My plan is use the softer instruments in the first part & bring out the brass in the second.
An example of the type of composition I have in mind is Fantasie #1 in Eb (for organ) by Camille Saint-Saens. This work has all the right stuff but is much too difficult for the group. Can someone suggest a possible piece that I could evaluate further?
