Interested in opinions of the forum, would you rather listen to instrumental jazz or lyrical jazz?
I myself (being a guitard) prefer instrumental music, but I do enjoy a lot of lyrical music don't get me wrong. I go by how a piece of music makes me feel or what I can extract as far as the feelings of the musicians in the piece. I like to hear the instruments and musicians speak to me I guess instead of a singer.
On the flip side of this I love hearing a vocalist perform their instrument without being in a structured word format (proper definition welcome). Pink Floyd really brought that to my attention when I saw there Momentary tour years ago.
