has anyone brought a cd just because they were so impressed with the artwork on the cover of the cd?

I remember buying an album of JSBach's organ works as played by Virgil Fox. The cover artwork reminded of a toy I once had in which there was a pegboard with one thousand small drilled holes, one thousand small translucent colored pegs, and the surronuding opaque plastic casing. Inside the case was a lightsource which caused the pegs to glow. It was really cool when one turned off the lights in the room and let just the toy be the lightsource with inserted pegs.

Now, the album cover was an outline of the face of JSBach in different colors. I carefully inserted different colored pegs in order to mimic what I saw. I just thought it was the greatest gadget since the invention of sliced bread.:grin::grin:

Of course, I was seven at the time and very impressionable...Ah well, those were the days.

Cheers,

Corno Dolce

Back when music was on only vinal records I found an album cover that
cought my eye. This was the Moody Blues 'lost chord' album with a
skull on one side and a developing fetus on the other with looking for the
lost chord as the title. Sorry I can't spell. Another one was Boston's
first album and their last on compact disc.

All the time. But that's what got me into metal music in the first place. I bought Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast because I loved the artwork. I eventually came to love the music, too, and didn't take long to realize that Iron Maiden wasn't nearly as "scary" or heavy as I was led to believe.
Ozzy's The Ultimate Sin was another that I bought because of the cover art.

But I often go browsing for bands I don't know yet and let myself be convinced by cover art. Amon Tobin's Out From Out Where is a more recent example, and Rosetta's Wake/Lift.

I first payed attention to the cover.
Only after some time I've realized that the music was good too.
(Actually, I consider this entire album a piece of art.)

Oh yeah that's a special one. I also had this album. There will be
nothing else like that one. Their rock music was so different than
other 60 & 70's music. Do you have Pink Floyd's "Wall" album too?
