JHC! Yeah! She was a showgirl, not a stripper.
She had a comedy routine and was a really good singer.
She'd sing along to the juke box as part of her routine.
You're right about the wow wow wow,
and if you saw her from behind,
you'd have to add a few more.
I even got off looking at her shoulder blades.
I'm lucky that my equipment and playing ability got me by onstage,
always having a good time, moving and dancing around,
without worrying about making a big impression for the big money.
She came over the border for the most busy Niagara Falls times,
and earned more herself than our whole three piece band.
Hey! I've got the scanner going to build my new domain.
Here's the front of the card for Master John.
I ordered custom dance shoes from him, real short fur,
beige with dark grey zebra stripes.
Mostly women wanted to feel them after they saw them,
wondering if its' real fur. It was, just cut and dyed.
I wore the fur off both sides of the shoes,
and I only wore them on carpets and onstage.
They lasted over two years.
Right now, I'm wearing a pair of Keds Sports Pro running shoes,
from the sixties, getting them new in the box from an antique store.
These are the first running shoes where a basketball player designed them.
Hey! Why describe them? I'll do a shoe photo, you know I must be into my feet.
The Pro Keds were one of the first running shoes with player input,
no words, no graphics, just a red slash on the side to be Keds, all black.
Some people say these were made for the Harlem Globetrotters.
I was working and took these instead of $60, being my size.
The green Converse All Stars were given to me walking down the street.
This man and woman said they were walking to my apartment building,
and it was a nice co-incidence to meet outside.
They said they'd only give them to me if I was going to wear them,
so I got real happy, saying hey, I've some green tartan to go with that.
I gave them $7, saying I had to pay, I'm not a charity case.
Uh, for some reason, people are always surprised when I pull out money.
I bought the red ones, my favorite looking running shoes of all time,
as a new product from a shoe store in St. Catharines, $80.
For two years, going through five pairs of red velvet pants,
I wore red, Converse high tops, early twenties.
I could be out in a field when I was hitch-hiking, taking a piss,
and someone would see me and wait to give me a ride.
These are Converse All Stars.
The blues ones, new, were a good deal, 12 wide, $29 plus taxes.
When I bought the red converse, again, surprising staff I purchased,
I asked if they had any other size twelve, smelling a deal.
The girl said they had a franchise line of runners with a new bouncy insole, on sale,
so I got the black ones with the white bottoms for $29, not $49.
The Converse All Stars with the red and black get the most compliments,
a rare model, just what everyone says. I got those for $7, new.
These are my only older ones I still have, getting thin, hard to throw out.
A store that just opened in the Lincoln Mall, where I shop for groceries,
was still being set up, and one day I caught the owners and everyone,
sitting there taking a break. I introduced myself as a protest mayoral candidate,
and told them about the problems businesses there had with management,
and with city hall, dominating this mall. I could go on.
Staff listened to me, and the next time I went in the owners came over,
saying John, you were right, and we're moving to the Fitch Street Plaza.
They had running shoes for $14, children's $10, and they gave me a deal.
When I bought the first pair, spending what I could, they gave me 50% off.
I said you have three more Phat Farm and Converse runners in size twelve,
and I'll buy them all if I can, getting all four for $7 each.
That's why I had to buy that many replacements,
wearing them out at the same time.
I don't like using new running shoes to ride my bicycle,
but I'll be looking good.
It's hard to believe cheap running shoes with hard soles sell.
I like to feel I can wrap my feet around things,
especially my bike pedals, a chiropractic workout.
