I know this is going to sound like a weird request but...I'm currently playing a computer game called Neverwinter Knights and within the game you can create your own world. And within that world, of course you can put your own music in. Basically there are 2 types of music I've been using for the game so far: slow, eerie, evil-sounding music (which I have a lot of!) and fast-paced, action music. This is the type of music I"m having trouble finding good stuff for. So far, I've been using: Conan the Barbarian, Starship Troopers, The Omen, Exorcist, Sleepy Hollow, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. I know it's really difficult because it's hard to describe what I like and what I'm looking for, but out of the aforementioned I think I like Danny Elfman and Basil Poledouris best (especially Basil, when he's on he's on!) and something like Sleepy Hollow is a great example because there's tons of action music in it. I would appreciate any kind of recommendations. Thanks

How about:

Lord of the Rings films by Howard Shore
Pearl Harbor by Hans Zimmer
Master and Commander by Iva Davies, Christopher Gordon & Richard Tognetti

The Harry Potter movie soundtracks also have some action music. i.e. The Dragon (track 10 I believe, from Goblet of Fire by Patrick Doyle).

I have an idea. How about some of our american war songs like
the military songs, anchers away, wild blue yonder, army song,
in the navy, and last the Marine songs. Believe it or not, our
national anthem is also a war song. You can take that in consideration.

thanks for the responses! I do have Fellowship of the Ring and I don't remember there being too many exciting action cuts on there, but I'll give it another spin. I'll try Pearl Harbor, Master and Commander and some of the Harry Potter movies. As far as American war anthemns go, they are a bit too heroic-sounding and I need something a little darker. Something that makes the main character feel like he/she's in peril. Mars, Bringer of War is a great suggestion, but the person I'm "building" this game for, my wife, already knows that piece much too well and I want to suprise her when she plays the game (^_^). Thanks though!

although the previous are good suggestions, my personal favorites are well known enough that you shouldnt have a problem finding them. here we go:

1. The Battle--track 3 from Gladiator(2000) One should include tracks 1 and 2 from the CD for the buildup to track 3.
2. Promentory--Last of the Mohicans....this one makes me want to drive fast and through brick walls, that's the effect it has on me.
3. Barbarian Horde--track 13 from Gladiator
4. The Battle for Peace--Star Trek VI :The Undiscovered Country
5. Blade Runner Theme Song--Could be argued that it isnt a "battle song" but it can have that same effect i think.

Hi !
What is the duration of the music you need. If it is short (10 or 15 secondes) may be I can compose something for you.

Have you thought of Beethoven's 5th. It was used during world war
two to announce the attack on pearl harbor.

Hi Ms. Judy,

Again you have piqued my curiosity and inquisitiveness. Just where did you read about what music announced the raid on Pearl Harbor? I have been to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial exhibition in Hawaii many times and no mention is made about Beethoven's Fifth in connection with the bombs and machine-gun strafings on Pearl Harbor. I eagerly await your reply because it is news to me.

Humbly,

thanks guys, I've already check out so many of your suggestions and I'm still looking into more of them. When I'm done i'll post as to what I picked. So far though I'll probably be taking those two tracks from Gladiator. Sounds pretty good.

p.s. thanks for the offer Musicalis but I couldn't have you do that! That would be too much trouble. Anyway, the pieces have to be relatively long, but thanks for the offer!

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Hi Judy,

The attack on Pearl was not "announced" ... the warnings went unheeded by the military brass ... nobody at Pearl was even aware of an attack, much less playing B's 5th, when the first bomb hit ... Was this from a movie or documentary about Pearl perhaps?

Please enlighten us ...

Hi Krummhorn,

Methinks Ms. Judy might be thinking abot a film that starred Ben Affleck and there is a scene where a military brass band plays, if my memory serves me, *The Star Spangled Banner* just as a raid is commencing. Now, how that *morphed* into *Ludwig's Fifth* - well, lets just say it was very creative thinking - methinks???!!! :):):):D:D:D:grin::grin::grin::clap::clap::clap::banana::banana::banana::smash::smash::smash::nut::nut::nut::whistle::whistle::whistle:

Cheers,

Corno Dolce
