Guys are not the only ones that gives gifts. Us gals also like to get
things for the guys. It's kinda limited on what we can purchase.
That doesn't stops us. I got my first husband a new Norelco for
christmas one year. I'd rather give than receive.

I'm just as generous with whomever I am with. For instance, when I dine out (which is at least twice or three times each week), I usually tip 20% on my restaurant tab. This is true if I'm dining alone or with anyone, including my spouse.

I'm more of a "giver" than "receiver", although I sometimes lack the ability to select the appropriate gift for the occasion, and always asking for ideas - I rather despise going to a shopping mall ... I'm an expert at "armchair shopping" though :crazy:.

That is an interesting article. I know it was a little harsh on men, not all men are like that, but in my experience (ie: 30 years of marriage) some men will give because they are given a reason. For instance for a birthday or christmas. My husband will ask what I want and then search E-bay for the cheapest. I agree with Judy that woman are limited, in the fact that men can buy a woman flowers, what is the male equivalent?

My husband has a vast collection of Jazz cds because I never know what to get him.

It was an interesting article but I guess everyone is unique. I enjoy giving whenever I can and doing something "nice" for others just because. Random acts of kindness...just "out of the blue." But I also enjoy receiving just as much.

There's nothing wrong with giving a man flowers, Margaret. In fact, it's so out of the norm that it makes it even more special, I think. Many times I will be out on errands and see something that I think will perk up someone's day and will purchase it. Even something as small as a cute card that is unexpected and for no reason can reinforce a special feeling for someone.

I remember being sent a huge bunch of flowers to my workplace (it was just after my mother had died of cancer). Those that didn't know me or my circumstances asked who the new "squeeze" was ... a very embarrasing situation for all concerned! I said I'd had a death in the family and they were from well-wishers. You could've cut the air with a knife ... now, in all honesty, I'd LOVE to be sent a bunch of flowers to work AND I'd let then think what they liked.

That sounded kinda rude.:rolleyes: You were at a loss with a loved one and
sometimes flowers can say I'm sorry better. A lot of guys like flowers
on their birthday, Father's day, and even valentines day. If you like
gardening you will be growing flowers. A lot of your veggies are flowers
like cabbage for example looks to me like a giant green rose or purple,
and lettuce. Onions belong to the lily family. So here's you a flower!:cool:
