Galina Vishnevskaya Rostropovich...Eternal Memory

Yesterday a brightly shining star named Galina Vishnevskaya Rostropovich left this transitory life. I know many of her pupils through the Patriarchal Choir. She was frightfully busy with the Opera School right up until her death. It is my understanding that the funeral service will be at Christ the Saviour Cathedral.

Dame Galina Vishnevskaya, Eternal will be your Memory because you cared for people.

Even tho I am not familiar with her. I pray for her repose of her soul and may she rest with the great choirs above. Beautiful heavenly link too...

Tomorrow morning at 09:00 a.m. in Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral is the Liturgy/Memorial Service for Galina Vishnevskaya. I'm crying already, even though I never met the woman while she lived.

Well,

It was a 3-1/2 hour Liturgy with lots and lots and lots and lotsa music...And not a dry-eye in the Cathedral. Such an outpouring of Love by those in attendance - And then the Archbishop invited the 7000-plus crowd to the cemetery - so, there were lots of chartered buses(1-1/2 kilometers from the Cathedral) to the resting-place at Novodevichy Monastery where her husband Slava Rostropovich is sleeping. Her "mentees" in the Cathedral Choir were so broken up with grief. I said to them: "You have all been given great teaching by her - Now its your responsibility to take over where she left off and teach the upcoming generation of singers - Keep her legacy alive!
