Yes, Turwiethiel, isn't it marvellous ? I loved this when I first saw it on DVD. One of the best live recordings I've ever seen of any opera. (The audience applauded for minutes after this). David Daniels is of course one of the finest counter tenors alive today. And he himself loves the music of Handel. It shows. In Germany he is in huge demand.

That orchestra/conductor was also tremendous in the entire performance.

It's one of those rare miracles in music recording during recent years.

Hi wljmrbill. The banned person to whom I was referring is the poster Robert Newman, not the musician cited in this piece. As it occurred before my time, perhaps it would be best if some of the older [not in age but tenure] members answer your question as to why Mr. Newman was banned from MIMF.
