Future Classical CD Purchases

So, what do you think will be your next classical music purchase?
As for myself, I am tempted to pull the trigger on:
Gustav Mahler--The Complete Symphonies {Box Set}, 2008 re-mastered on Sony Imports, featuring the New York Philharmonic and Maestro Bernstein.

What about you?

I seldom buy CDs any longer - very happy purchasing MP3s from iTunes or other places AND also "steal" broadcasts on our national classical broadcaster of orchdstral concerts to my digital radio ---> computer ---> iPod.

Thanks, Mat. That looks like quite a comprehensive Chopin collection indeed. Just what is its cost, anyway?

Yup, it just goes to show that you can put a price on art ;)

I'll probably soon invest in Masaaki Suzuki's readings of the Complete JSBach Cantatas - I have Koopman's readings but find his style sometimes tedious...

I like the Chopin set Mat, but I need to save up a bit first. I am not sure what my next purchase will be.

I've been contemplating buying another complete Nielsen Cycle, this one by the Janacek Philharmonic under the baton of Theodore Kuchar. For only 15 dollars on Amazon, it is really calling my name.

I finally gave in today and "pulled the trigger" on this one.

I've also been debating for awhile now about whether or not to buy the complete Mahler Symphonic Cycle done by Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic. I think the tea leaves will be favorable at some point, even though I only really like Symphonies 1, 5, 6, 7 and 9 {the ones w/o the choral arrangements}.

I'm sure I could learn a bit from the Bernstein Mahler cycle... but if I were to purchase another Mahler cycle, it would be Tennstedt.

So, Sir Knight... since you're in The Empire State, have you given any thought to checking out "Mahler- The Historic Broadcasts," available through the New York Philharmonic??

Would this be on radio or is it a CD made by the NYP?

A set of CDs- all nine symphonies, Dad Lied von der Erde, Songs of a Wayfarer, the two completed movements of 10, a couple of conductor interviews, and the Public Radio broadcast from 1964- "I Remember Mahler." [Interviews with musicians who played in the NY Phil during Mahler's stint there.]

Thanks, Chi, I'll try to find this on Amazon and see what it is going for, if they have it, that is. It really sounds all encompassing as far as Mahler is concerned!
