FRANCK CARDUCCI isn’t a newcomer to music. But ‘Oddity’ (2011) is the debut album for this multi-instrumentalist on which he plays acoustic, electric and bass guitars, piano, synthesizers, tambourine as well as sings. Helping him out on flute is John Hackett (Steve’s brother)... Franck’s recording style brings out so many fine details and intricate moments within each song, which are well put together as individual units. There’s a lot to hear where different compositions include different instruments, to incorporate fairly good melodies.

This album starts off with track ‘Achilles’. It sets the pace for the rest of material (firmly rooted in a very familiar Genesis/Pink Floyd territory). Some unexpected signature changes create a sense of good proportion. Fans of old Pendragon should praise the gentle glide of ‘The Last Oddity’…

A very accessible CD that is hugely enjoyable to listen to and I look forward to hearing more from Franck Carducci.
