Exercise for the middle aged

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 2kg potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can.

Try to reach a full minute, and then relax, but try to increase it a bit longer each day.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 5kg potato bags.

Then try 20kg potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 50kg potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. I'm at this level. After you feel confident at this level, put a potato in each bag.

I know of an exercise that is good for you and saves you gas money.
Just strap on the Nikes or Rebocks, leave the car parked and walk.
It works for me.

That's a good idea Judy. Not only gets you exercise but it is also aerobic and heart-healthy. We both got rid of our vehicles just after we moved to Canada, so we walk a LOT. We have only taken a cab 5 times in 7 months (and not in the winter; I love to walk in the snow now) and use the metro only seldom. Joe rides a bike and roller blades 5 to 10 miles at a clip. I used to go to the gym 3-5 times a week in Florida but haven't joined one since moving here. Will get around to it eventually.

It was sent to me by a friend who never exercises and I was fooled too at first then I laughed my head off.

I do, however, own weights and I give my tri and biceps a work out each day, consequently my arms are quite strong and muscular, as is my upper body, but heading south from the breastbone it's a total disaster area.

Me thinks it's another of those "tongue in cheek" kinda things...
