Some times when I click onto thread link from emails I seem to land up anywhere up to 5-6-7 pages back from last page whilst easy to remedy I wonder what is going on?
You are being returned to your first "unread" message of that thread ... in other words, the forum software "knows" which parts of what threads you have read or not read.
Now listen here buster if you are saying my mate Lars is BIG you better watch out cause if only they would enable you know what then the whole world could see what you are doing so be careful.
