Does anyone know Jazz musicians that came from Brooklyn?

Hey everyone,

I've been looking for some good Jazz musicians from Brooklyn. I've found an awesome composer Randy Weston so far. Here is a link to a tribute for him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X4potcPAZQ. It's pretty smooth listening too but does anyone have any suggestions for Brooklyn artists?

Thanks for the help! It seems like Brooklyn more of a rock/rappers part of town. Amazing part of the city though. Corno Dolce thanks for the recommendation, that is some retro stuff.

Not sure if she counts, but Norah Jones was born in Brooklyn. The American jazz and blues musician Bob Lenox came from Brooklyn, also Lena Horne and the drummer Max Roach.

I hit the search key in Wikipedia for "Jazz musicians born in Brooklyn" and got an amazing number, including Buddy Rich as suggested by Gord
