Ever had one of those mornings??

I woke early (like 4:30 am because of the heat) so I thought, I'd go into work (new job as Parish Administrator) and get on with some Sunday service production stuff (pew sheet (a big job), readings for the lectern (small job), and begin printing).

Well the remote mouse decides to die which means I can't use the big keyboard (hate typing on Laptop keyboards as they're not designed with people who touch type in mind (keys are ever so slightly narrower, you know, this just affects your mind map of a "normal" keyboard).

This laptop I have for my job is brand new, and a fine beast (H.P.). And it has that use your fingerprints instead of a log in ... IT didn't work (sigh).

I think someone's giving me a none too subtle message!!

Just whining - and having one of those days and it's not even 7am!! :-(

I am glad you got a new job OK. Still hopefully it can only get better.

Forgive me Vicki and CT64 - I find it just a touch ironical that an atheist would seek and get employment as a Parish Administrator. I have known a few Parish Admins who were very much militant atheists and they seemed to thrive at their employ - maybe they made a dialectical dispensation :smirk: for the sake of avoiding financial extinction.

And that 12 hours was a moment that you as a new mother really did not need
to experience.

May I please share a humble observation? Since you have Nika you very much have the right to marvel at her and snuggle with her - With you having carried her for 9 months and now having the joy of holding her in your arms and giving of yourself to her needs, you have the perfect antidote to the 12 hour negativity episode you just experienced - Nika's needs are way more important - To provide for Nika is your great joy.

Hi CD,

Indeed, you are very very right Even when it seems like everything sucks, you are sick, the baby is crying or waking up in the middle of the night, and you have to get out of the warm bed from under a nice comfy snuggly blanket, into the darkness and the coldness of the night to attend to the baby's needs - you just take a look at the happy content face when the baby is taken care of and you simply can't help but smile and feel all warm inside . - That is the greatest joy.

Its funny, but these days our joy comes from very different source - "oh, the baby pooped!!! thats the best thing that happened all day!" The baby burped - hooray, hooray. And the passing of the gas - that is the source of happiness like you have never seen before!!!

Babies are definitely fun, even though take a lot of effort and are a great responsibility. Oh, you are going to be a great daddy!!! Againg, I am so happy for you . Do you have a preference (a wrong word, really, but I can't think of another one) for a boy or a girl?

My wife and I will find out in March about what is going on inside her. She says she feels like she was being tickled - she derives great comfort and mirth from it. She has not experienced any nausea or other pregnancy discomforts. Already her tummy is quite large. We have this premonition that it won't be just one child, but four babies.

When she ovulated before Christmas, she mentioned a warm and powerful presence inside her. Our procreative efforts have paid off - now we await the picture by ultra-sound. She wants to give birth at home. Just yesterday a dear friend of ours who is an M.D who specialises in neo-natal care and his wife who is a neo-natal nurse want to assist us without charge - WOW!!! What a privilege that humbles my wife and I to no end.

So your wife wants to do the natural birth - thats great, although after contractions I was a big spokesman for epidural!!! Thats really great about your friends - you get best of the both worlds: a comfort of your home as well as the benefits of modern science

Congrats Muza on your cherished newborn and CD, look forward to hearing how things progress. Four kiddies? Quite a challenge if it is true. Better start stocking up on the pampers now.

After some of the physical pain I have experienced in my lifetime, there have been occasions where I have thought, "is this what childbirth is like?" but realize that is probably not even close to the case. That is when I am ever so thankful for modern pharmacology. I have had my share of nerve blocks and epidurals for pain and the latest treatment has been IV lidocaine treatments. It's wonderful while it lasts to be pain-free. So I would agree with Muza in her previous post.

Either way, it is a wondrous event, just be glad that you only experience it emotionally, not the actual physicality of it.

I had one of those days yesterday. I was supposed to have kicked off
my first class at 10 am teaching ladies how to knit and have some more
to join me in this new prayer shawl ministry. Well, no body showed up
at all. I was there all by myself knitting. So I decided to teach myself
how to knit left handed which took a while and they started to set up
for another class that night while I was still there. I spent the whole
day at church walking around and finding things to do. The shoes I
chose to wear weighed about a pound each which felt like two bricks.
Later that day I was asked to decorate the tables for the dinner and
that took me about two hours. "It's a big church!" Then I went to
two classes that night with my class and choir practice. When I finally
got home, I was completely wore out. I crashed when I sat down in
my only big chair and napped for four hours and woke myself up. I said
to myself,"I need to go to bed!" It was after one o'clock when I did
go to bed.
