I miss my parents who also lived during the depression and God bless
the ones who are still living and still have a good mind to teach us
how to do things the old fashion way.

Hi Judy. What a lovely lady. It's reassuring to know people can survive hard times and then live a long life and make videos at age 93! I hope I don't have to give up my beans-on-toast just yet though.

If you ever see a Walton's episode you will find that the show was based
on the depression. I can imagine how hard times can bring people
together. I just went through a tough time this past two months. I didn't
just stay at the Red Cross. I went home and rode out the storm and cold
nights because I knew it wasn't going to last long. I known of some other
times when I had it rough. Prayer changes things. I just kept on praying
for the electricity to come on, and that Sunday after the ice storm even
though a lot of it had melted and I still couldn't get out. I set there in
total silence and heard the power company turn it on. I was used to it.
Remember I used to live in this old house when it got that cold the
toilet would freeze. That toughened me up where I could stay home
with just my cooking stove to keep me warm. For entertainment I would
play my guitar, read, knit, crochet, and at night watch the most beautiful
star show as Orion came over along with the rest of the constellations.
Even the moon was the star of the show one night. Now that the
lights are on, I miss looking at the stars. I have to get Google Earth
or read Astronomy Magazine.

Thank you for sharing that Judy, Clara is a wonderful person. It is good to know that despite the Great depression, people managed by making do with what they had. A lesson for us all to learn.

God bless the ones who are still alive who do remember the depression.
There are some at my church that I talk to. I went to a sunday school
class full of people that old. I felt like I was with my parents again.
I loved it listening about the depression, World war 2, and more.
