'D'AccorD' is the self-titled debut album by a new Norwegian band. For many people who like good retrospective 70's prog-rock, this release will be a treat. :cool: It's not easy to name all groups that D'AccorD sounds like, but The Nice, Uriah Heep, Genesis, Jethro Tull and Queen are in there... ;)

Recording for the second D'AccorD album 'Helike' is finished and mixed, with an intended release date somewhere in September 2011. This new CD should be a natural step forward from the style of debut work. A lot of variety can be found in the structure of two epic tracks, but the changes never sound forced.

As I much liked the first D’AccorD album, I was looking forward to the sophomore release., :)

The core member of this band is Daniel Maage, a songwriter who plays flute and performs lead vox. Daniel shows really wonderful range and the ability to sing in styles from edgy to smooth. It’s weird but interesting nonetheless. D’AccorD has the formula of combining gentle parts with more aggressive material and experimental explosive moments. Norwegian outfit have expanded the previous style to include influences of King Crimson and VDGG, plus a trademark Scandinavian originality. The musical themes on ‘Helike’ are worked out to 2 very long tracks (20:44, 23:30). Both epics consist of multiple sections with different moods and strong interplay between Stig Are Sung (guitar) and Arstein Tislevoll (keyboards). Whilst Bjarte Rossehaug is heard on drums, Martin Sjoen plays bass. Fredrik Horn adds soft atmosphere on piano. There are so many twists and turns. The authentic retro sound walks a line between the hard edged instrumental work and the outer space feel…The art-cover by ‘Man in the Mountain’ is the icing on the cake…:cool:

To sum it up: D’AccorD have produced a very good, not too easy to digest album. But it’s worthwhile. The feeling is once again early 70-s. I’d urge all open-minded fans to give this CD a listen. And if possible, to see the band live, where they’re no less enticing proposition. Recommended.
