Have they discovered a new use for Classical Music?

Classical Music Seems To Cut Loitering At Convenience Store

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Associated Press) -- Shoppers and employees say an Ohio convenience store has fewer people hanging around and hassling customers since the business started blaring classical music.
Shopper Allie Beck says the classical music is loud - she can hear it all the way down the street. But she says it's an improvement over all the people who used to ask for change or bother passers-by outside the store

This has been used here to discourage youngsters from loitering. Seems to work

Yes they have used it over here, if it keeps the undesirables at bay I am all for it. I would rather hear Classical music than loud, obnoxious rude people. Hopefully those with nothing better to do will be less likely to stand around and mug people. Mind you if they have nothing better to do, I could find jobs to occupy them.

"Ride of the Valkyries" quite often sends the miscreants, trailer park trash, and riff-raff packing........:lol::lol:

Apropos Apocalypse Now, I love love listening to Anthony Newmans rendition of "The Ride" on the the organ of St. John the Divine when I begin the "Siege on the Dust Bunnies".:grin::grin::grin::grin:

Hey Corno - our state rail organisation (CityRail) sometimes uses classical music to keep the ferals/bogans/hordes of teens away ... and it works!

I think it's because they have to actually "think" about what is being played, and this is obviously too much for their pea-sized brains. {if brains they have at all}.

I think the music conflicts with their lifestyle and emotions, so they are unsure as to how to react

Tried to scare 'em off with all that Sturm und Drang, eh? Maybe we should try that here in New York in certain places as well!

Aw, tanks alot - You da best...:tiphat::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat:

Back on topic: I perceive that once the music gets very tonally complex, the unschooled mind shuts down, therefore "they" move along.
