Chamber music is alive and well in the Philippines

I am an American flutist living in Manila in the Philippines. Manila boasts four local orchastra's but due to geography and distance we don't usually get a lot of information exchange or visiting classical performers. There are however a good many first rate classical musicians here. 3 years ago I decided to start a chamber music group and to present an ongoing series of public concerts. Chamber music was almost unknown here and many good players were unfamiliar with it. After 3 years we have carved a niche in the performing arts scene here in Manila and we continue to present programs never heard before in the Philippines. We have a modest website:www.clarionensemble.com where you can look in and see what we are doing in this part of the world. I'm glad to have found this forum and welcome any suggestion for good modern chamber music of all instrumentations.
Cheers, Flute Divo

Hi Flute Divo,

Nice to see you here at MIMF.
Your pioneering in the chamber music scene in Manila sounds very interesting.
Hope to see you participating in the ongoing discussions here.

All the best,

One of the pleasant surprises I found here was that the music tastes here are a bit more refined especially among the young. I am glad to hear there is a chamber ensemble here as definitely is the opportunity to promote good music here. That is why I spend a lot of time trying to get good organ music back into the Churches before it deteriorates to "happy clappy" as it has in the "1st world" countries.
Harv also a "Kano" in the Philippines
