An unusual letter and an even more unusual question ! Since we don't know the motives the question is not easily answered. I'm glad for the posting the 4 Seasons of Vivaldi. Are these tracks freely shared ? May I suggest, if we wish to share freely with others here (whose sole motive is to know and appreciate music) I think we already have part of an answer. Unless, of course, willingness to share is conditional or has a price. Such things are and will always be personal choice. Don't you agree ? For which we are personally responsible. And gladly.

There are those who charge for the tasting of wine and others who do not. Those who want music to be accessible to everyone and those who want otherwise.

Seems fair, yes ?

I forget the name of the complete cycle, but the "four seasons" are actually a part of some 12 or 13 concertos in the total cycle.

Vivaldi was a priest who worked in a "hospitale", which was, according to my understanding, an orphanage for girls. Apparently, his job was to write music for the students to play. So again, you have an example of a composer who was so prolific precisely because that is what he was paid, or at least supported in the case of a priest, to do. Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and others were pretty much in the same boat. No wonder they were so prolific!! They had to be.

The motive behind a thing is often as important as the thing itself. That's why the subject of who posts what and why is a matter for each individual. We are all adult, accountable people though we are not all kind and generous with our own things. Something about the letter of the law and the spirit of the law, yes ?
