Hi Gongchime,

What about this piece do you want to discuss? if you want to have your (or someone elses) music reviewed, please use the appropriate forum.

I thought this was the appropriate forum since I'm fusing Chinese melody with Indonesian gamelan instruments and Thai accompaniment techniques. If that's not fused then I don't know what is.

What about it do I want reviewed? Everything if you've got the time.

It's utterly gorgeous. It's also quite seamless, great production continuity. The noise floor is a bit high and the recording spectrum ceiling sounds a bit low, but I intuit the sound as either some background rain or a charming older recording. Gorgeous. How did you produce this?

EDIT

I've had a look at your Broadjam page, which answered a lot of questions. Still I'd love to hear any thoughts you want to share.

I don't understand what great production continuity means. It sounds like an older recording because my cheap ass Sm57 is picking up the sound of the fan in the BR1180 recording unit placed too close. Otherwise it's just little old me playing EVERYTHING.

Excellent music !

I was reading your profile and you have an excellent range of instruements.

Have you got any tips for playing the gamelan ? such as common melodies ? Im trying to compsoe something with samples, but I end up bashing the keyboard coming up with something at sounds far too Western.

Hello. I hope any of you don't mind me butting in but probably you can start experimenting with pentatonic scales for your melodies, which sound more oriental. I tried improvising with major pentatonic scales once using bell patches once half-saturated with reverb with considerable results.

Could'nt see a download link for the song in question. But I listened to the three streamable tracks. Your asiatic compositions are intricate and relaxing. Beautiful music. Who are the vocalists?
