A new Australian work about reconciliation

As a newcomer to this site, I hope my link works

This piece 'Salt pan' is a choral work I wrote for the 'Australian Soundscapes' project in 2009 (developed by the Lumina Vocal Ensemble), setting a poem I wrote in 2006 (before the 'Apology to Indigenous Australians'). It is inspired by ideas of reconciliation and includes photos of South Australia's gorgeous Kangaroo Island.

This story includes the shifting sands of unrest - how can we presume to know what is needed to heal centuries of hurts? There is certainly no simple solution.

When it comes to writing music, the human voice is my real love. It can be so many things, including evocative and passionate.

Bill, thanks so much for adding comments to my youtube clip. As I know you like early music, you may enjoy one of my 'mediaeval-inspired' pieces. I have written two meditative works based on texts by the 12th-century Abbess and visionary Hildegard of Bingen (both based on the idea of plainsong).

I guess you could say these pieces are much less 'Australian', and more based on my love for European music of the mediaeval period
