I am a somewhat advanced pianist. For irrelevant reasons, I've never played a concerto before, and I finally will this year! I'm stoked about this, and my teacher is giving me basically total control over which concerto I'll play.
The thing is, the concertos I know of tend to be ridiculously out of my reach (you know, like Tchaikovsky B-flat, Rach 3, Brahms 2, etc.).
My teacher has suggested the Schumann A minor (that's the one she would prefer for me to play, but again, I'm the one to choose). I would love some suggestions of concertos within that difficulty range, especially for someone who's never played with an orchestra before!
As more of a reference for the skill level I'm looking for, right now I'm playing:
Bach WTC II, D major
Mozart Sonata in A minor, K. 310
Beethoven Sonata in F-sharp major, Op. 78
Chopin Ballade No. 3, Op. 47
A few etudes ("Sunshine", "Ocean", just started "Winter Wind")
Rach Etude in E-flat minor, Op. 33
Rorem Barcarolles
Thanks in advance.
