New Album and Music Store!

For several years I have been working on music for a new concept album. An album somewhat different from my other albums in its genre which is "crossover" music fusing classical music with (progressive/symphonic) rock, electronica, and a little touch of jazz in places. Also, some of the tracks will have a hint of "filmic" quality to them.

The album will be released online later this year, but I will be releasing a few singles within a few days (or weeks at most) exclusively on a new music store here on magle.dk! Each work will be priced at less than 1 euro and the sound quality will be great, as I'm negotiating with the company that will be managing the technical part of the store to get the bitrate all the way up to 320kbps which is the highest possible MP3 quality. The tracks will of course be free of DRM (but don't pirate them, please )

I'm very excited about this and looking forward to presenting you with this new music very soon...!

Speaking as someone who has an all-encompassing love of music, and who appreciates (pretty much) all genres of music, I'm highly intrigued by this news. Basically, I can't wait to hear it! :grin:

I think this store is a great idea; we've seen from the comments made by many people on this forum that there is a demand for your music to be made more easily available. Where better for it than right here?

A small update: I had expected to launch the store this week, but the company managing the technical part (as well as the payment system) cannot have everything ready and tested until Monday, so the launch is now expected to be either Monday or Tuesday.

Some good news are that all the tracks will indeed be in the great 320kbps quality and priced at 0.99 Euro per track including VAT (25% Danish sales tax).

Just an idea...why don't you get into the affiliate thing? The internet is moving because of affiliations, in addition to blogging. More people will post your banner in their site so anybody interested can click on it and reach your site to buy but the affiliate gets some affiliate commission. Payout can be as small as 5$ or 10$ (the lower it is, the more affiliates get interested). You get free exposure this way and the affiiate need not spend just to be an affiliate. You just have to ask your technical person how to go about this. I'm sure there is some affiliate manager (software) to take care of this.

That sounds like a very interesting idea. I'll have to talk to the music store providers about this. They are the only online music store solution provider in Denmark, which is why I pretty much had to chose them, not so much for the technical part but because they take care of all aspects of the payment system such as royalties, credit card use, etc. and the legal rights parts (as they work closely with the authorities and the music business). Also they provide great stability and a tried, tested and very safe solution for me, and not least the customers.

But seeing as they pretty much hold a monopoly they tend not to move quite as fast as others might when incorporating new ideas. Still, I will definitely discuss the idea with them.

Just a short update: The launching of the store has unfortunately been delayed due to technical problems. Unfortunately it is out of my hands, so I just have to wait until the company running the store get the problems fixed. I'll let you know as soon as I have some news, but right now I have no idea exactly when the store will be ready other than "within a few days, a week at most".
