Yup, here we go again-

:trp::trp::trp:

Time for our monthly surprise work poll!

:clap::clap::clap:

Time to cast your vote for the composer from this list whose work you would most like to hear. This time around it's composers of the 20th century! :clap:

We've got a Hungarian, a Finn, a German, a Russian and a Frenchman.

I voted for Bartok. Not sure why. If I want to hear some Bartok, all I have to do is get off the couch and walk two steps, maybe three...

But what the hey!

some guy, your posts amuse me. :grin:

Glad you see the fun in this; that's exactly what it's about. What the hey indeed! :grin:

Why not just torture me, rojo, with burning coals between my toes?! I ought to have voted much earlier than this because now I feel the obligation to prevent a triple tie (Poulenc is very high on my personal list). And comparing Sibelius and Bartok is like comparing a month of skiing in the Alps with a month of snorking at the Great Barrier Reef. Anyway, I broke the tie (sighing and grumbling).

Geez ... poor Rick and Igor - left at the starting gate.

ON, thanks for the tie breaking - it was I who voted for Poulenc <sniff sniff> :grin:

Poll is for members to cast a vote for their popular composer from the list. Once the poll closes, the composer with the greatest amount of votes will be featured in a video here and any ensuing discussion about the performance, composer or musicians.

It's all in fun ... basically an interest game to spark interest in some different composers of different time periods.

Congratulations to this month's winner-

:trp::trp::trp: Béla Bartók! :trp::trp::trp:

Thanks to all who voted, and to ON especially, who suffered immensely in order to break the tie! :clap::clap::clap:

Here is the work-

What do you all think? Can someone name the work, and/or the interpreter?

Wow, well done ON! :clap: Do you like Gitlis's interpretation here?

Btw ON, I'm relieved! :grin:

Yes, I do. It is quite sensual. The violin is such an intimate instrument, very close to one's "emotional buttons." ;) I'm glad you chose that slow movement.

I like it too. I agree with you completely about the violin; it's capable of conveying such intensity and drama.
